Trump is trying to remove legal services from immigration detention centers and courts.  On Jan 22, 2025, the Rocky Mountain Immigrant Advocacy Network (RMIAN) received a stop work order for their work providing critical legal services to thousands of immigrants in Colorado (and throughout the US) every year. This is based on a hateful new Executive Order that also targets immigrants for increased detention and deportation. This is an attempt to shut down the legal access programs at both the Aurora Detention Center and the Denver Immigration Court.

Elected officials must fight back. Trump has tried this before, in 2019. It was through public outcry and the advocacy of our elected officials that this attempt was shut down. Your elected officials need to hear from you.

Let them know that taking away legal services lawyers is unacceptable and reprehensible. It is contrary to every principle of due process and human decency.

Legal service attorneys are often the only lawyers that people in immigration detention ever see. Removing legal service attorneys from detention centers and immigration courts — while simultaneously mandating increased enforcement, detention, & expanded use of expedited removal in totally unprecedented ways — is utterly cruel and inhumane.

This is an intentional and vicious miscarriage of justice. We can and must press our elected officials to act. Here is their contact information:
